HERC Remembrance Tribute - June 2011
Barbara Goldstein and Rita Blank were honored at the Florida Capitol on May 3, 2011, with a tribute from State Representative Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda. The tribute recognizes their efforts in establishing the Holocaust Education Resource Council to provide guidance and support for those seeking to learn the lessons of history so that such horrific events will never occur again. Barbara and Rita have been inspired by their parents' remarkable survival to share their stories to ensure the Holocaust is remembered and taught to future generations.

Art/Essay Contest Awards Ceremony
This year's theme was: "Through The Eyes of A Child: Remembering the Children of the Holocaust ." Students from local elementary, middle and high schools were honored for their artwork and essays on May 22, 2011.
Diary of Anne Frank Benefit Show - Reception
HERC hosted a benefit show February 6, 2011, at Young Actors Theatre. The show was part of HERC'S educational outreach efforts including educating K-12 teachers and students to understand prejudice and the consequences of bigotry.
2010 HERC
Art/Essay Contest Awards Ceremony
The theme was: "Who were the heroes of the Holocaust. Discuss their courage and their imact." At 3 p.m. Sunday, the winners were honored at Temple Israel. Guest speaker was Judge Nina Ashenafi. Students from local elementary, middle and high schools were honored for their artwork and essays on Sunday, May 23, 2010.
2009 Holocaust Teacher Training Workshop
A teacher training workshop was held in October 2009 for classroom teachers, and educators of language arts and social studies, though all disciplines were welcome. The workshop focused on rationale, technology and resources for teaching about the Holocaust.

Art/Essay Contest Awards Ceremony
The program was held at the Challenger Learning Center on May 17. The event included an art exhibition, a moving video of a student group visiting prison camps in Poland, a speech from guest speaker Secretary of State Kurt Browning and a guest appearance via video from Governor Charlie Crist.
HERC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed for the purposes of sponsoring the Annual Student Holocaust Essay/Art Contest, Teacher Training Workshops, and community outreach. HERC serves the following Florida Counties: Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Madison, and Wakulla.
